Market Outlook
What Has Sold and Why?
Here are three examples of recent Oklahoma transactions illustrate that privately owned businesses sell in different ways and the stories of how they unfold.
Established Garden Center
A long-established Oklahoma garden center was acquired after nearly a year of discussions. A private equity buyer had initially approached the owner, but the proposed relationship was not the right fit. The owner then asked a trusted business contact whether they knew another potential recommendation.
The transaction closed through a privately developed relationship rather than a broad public marketing process. The former owner agreed to remain involved for at least one year to transfer operating knowledge and mentor the new owners. This transition period was an important part of preserving the company’s reputation, employees, customer relationships, and institutional knowledge.
Automotive Paint and Supply Distributor
A century-old Oklahoma automotive paint and supply distributor was acquired by one of North America’s largest privately held paint, body, and equipment distribution groups. The business had operated in its local market since the early 1900s and had developed a strong industry reputation under the same ownership for nearly three decades.
The transaction was a strategic acquisition. The buyer gained an established Oklahoma location, experienced personnel, customer relationships, and immediate access to a market it wanted to expand within. The seller, in turn, transferred the business to an industry operator with the resources and infrastructure to continue serving its customers. The buyer’s stated purpose was geographic expansion and strengthening its Oklahoma market presence.
In this example – the sellers worked very hard for a year to work themselves out of their job. Once the 30-day transition period was complete – the owners fully retired.
Specialty Barbershop
A distinctive Oklahoma City barbershop was sold to an individual buyer. The business combined professional grooming services with a recognizable automotive theme, vintage furnishings, and a customer experience designed to stand apart from a conventional barbershop.
The transaction demonstrates that smaller service businesses can attract individual buyers when they offer more than equipment and a lease. A recognizable concept, operating location, established customer base, online presence, and defined brand identity can provide a buyer with a functioning platform instead of requiring the buyer to start from the ground up. The business remains in operation following the sale, providing continuity for its customers and barbers.
We believed that the buyer would most likely be a first-time buyer, live within a 30-mile radius of the business, and need 60% of the purchase price in cash while the owner financed the remaining 40% through an owners note. That is exactly what went down.
These transactions had different buyers and different paths to closing, but each involved something transferable: established customer relationships, a recognized market position, a functioning operation, or specialized industry value. A successful sale is not based solely on financial performance. It also depends on identifying the buyer who places the greatest value on what the seller has built.
Some of our businesses never “hit the open market” because we maintain a curated list of qualified buyers whose experience, financial capacity, and acquisition goals align with specific opportunities. In other cases, licensing requirements limit the available buyer pool, confidentiality is especially important, or the seller prefers a targeted and discreet process. When appropriate, we approach proven industry operators and strategic buyers directly rather than broadly advertising the business.
Three of our current business listings are now under contract and moving toward closing. These are three very different businesses, and the time required to receive and accept an offer ranged from as little as 25 days to more than a year and a half. This range illustrates an important reality of selling a privately owned business: every transaction follows its own timeline. The nature of the business, buyer demand, financial performance, financing requirements, and the availability of the right buyer all influence how quickly an acceptable offer is received.

Available Businesses – FOR SALE
| Client # 83775 Commercial HVAC List Price: $847,600 Monthly Rent: $5,964 2025 Revenue: $3.0M Adjusted EBITDA: $199,100 Real Estate: $850,000 | A long-established commercial and industrial HVAC/mechanical contractor serving customers throughout Central Oklahoma and other areas of the state. With decades of operating history, the business generates approximately $3 million in annual revenue through recurring service and maintenance, equipment replacement, and larger mechanical projects. Its diversified customer base includes commercial, industrial, institutional, and project-based accounts. The company employs full-time personnel with established responsibilities across service management, replacement work, special projects, field operations, and administration. The owner is not the primary technician performing daily fieldwork, and key employees are expected to remain following a sale. This opportunity is intended exclusively for an existing HVAC/mechanical contractor, strategic industry buyer, or experienced HVAC operator with the necessary licensing, management experience, and financial capacity. It is not appropriate for a first-time business buyer or an individual without direct HVAC industry experience. Growth opportunities include adding technicians, expanding service agreements, pursuing additional replacement and project work, and strengthening sales development. The related 6,400-square-foot industrial facility is separately available for purchase or lease. The retiring seller will provide transition assistance and may consider limited financing for a qualified buyer. All inquiries are confidential. |
| Client # 83771 Primary Care Clinic List Price: $290,000 Monthly Rent: $3,100 2025 Revenue: $850,000 Building Size: 2,300 sq. ft. | An established primary care medical clinic in Oklahoma City is generating more than $850,000 in annual revenue from a consistent and growing patient base. Operating since 2015, the clinic records thousands of patient visits annually and maintains relationships with Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial insurance carriers. Its diversified payer mix reduces dependence on any single reimbursement source, while performance-based insurance incentives provide revenue beyond standard patient encounters. Services include well-child visits, immunizations, sports physicals, annual examinations, flu shots, and chronic disease management, with bilingual assistance available. The clinic operates from a professionally maintained 2,300-square-foot leased medical office designed for efficient patient flow, including examination rooms, reception space, and administrative areas. The workforce includes full-time employees, one part-time employee, and two independent contractors. An experienced office manager is expected to remain and assist with billing, scheduling, payer procedures, and daily operations during the transition. This opportunity is best suited for a qualified healthcare provider, existing medical practice, or strategic healthcare organization with the licensing and financial ability to operate the clinic. Growth opportunities include adding providers, extending operating hours, improving reimbursement management, and introducing complementary services. All inquiries are confidential. |
| Client # 31442 Dog Daycare with Proven Brand and Room to Grow List Price: $446,700 Monthly Rent: $6,879 2025 Revenue: $681,660 | This turnkey dog daycare franchise in the Oklahoma City metro generates revenue from daycare, boarding, training, and spa services, supported by more than seven years of proven operations. The business operates under an established brand in a high-demand, pet-centric market and is supported by a non-owner-dependent management team. Differentiated by APDT-accredited training, expert-led care, and underutilized boarding capacity, the business offers meaningful expansion opportunities across multiple service lines. The well-designed facility includes indoor playrooms, outdoor play areas, and all essential equipment, positioning the operation to capitalize on continued growth in the pet services industry. |
| Client #83772 Growing PT, OT and Speech Therapy Clinic List Price: $730,000 Monthly Rent: $5,000 2025 Revenue: $873,000 Adjusted EBITDA: $212,125 Real Estate: $485,000 | An established and growing pediatric therapy practice serving children and families in Northeast Oklahoma. Founded in 2019, the company generates approximately $873,000 in annual revenue through outpatient services and contracts with area schools, Head Start programs, and tribal organizations. Services include speech, occupational, and expanding physical therapy, supported by long-standing relationships with physicians and community partners. The practice has grown from two therapists into a multidisciplinary organization with full-time employees, part-time employees, independent contractors, and a management team overseeing daily operations. This established workforce, limited local competition, and strong community reputation provide an operating foundation that would be difficult to recreate. The opportunity requires a buyer who will reside in the general area and actively oversee the business approximately 20 to 50 hours per week or employ a qualified person for that role. A specific Oklahoma therapy license is not required for ownership, although relevant clinical or healthcare experience would be beneficial. Growth opportunities include formal marketing, continued physical therapy development, specialized programs, additional clinical resources, and expansion into related services or communities. The seller will provide transition assistance and may remain as an employee. The facility is separately available for purchase or lease. All inquiries are confidential. |
| Client #83769 Retail Pool Supplier List Price: $995,000 Monthly Rent: $25,000 2025 Revenue: $4.8M | A well-established specialty retailer and service provider in the outdoor living and leisure industry, producing multi-million-dollar annual revenue and supported by decades of operating experience and strong regional recognition. The company operates from a purpose-built facility situated on approximately 3 acres, featuring an expansive showroom and separate warehouse space; an operating footprint that would require substantial time and capital to duplicate. Sales are spread across a broad customer base with limited concentration, driven by repeat business, customer referrals, and durable supplier relationships. The real estate is available through a separate purchase or long-term lease. The business has an experienced, transferable workforce of 20+ people, consisting of full-time employees, part-time employees, and contractors. Current revenue has been maintained without significant dependence on structured marketing. Growth opportunities include implementing a more disciplined sales process, expanding targeted advertising, increasing service and maintenance offerings, developing online accessory sales, and strengthening margin controls using the company’s existing staff and facilities. The opportunity may fit an active owner, industry acquirer, or investment group seeking an established platform within the outdoor living market. The seller is prepared to assist with an orderly transition and may consider financing a portion of the transaction for a financially qualified buyer. All communications will remain strictly confidential. |
